    Ken drew upon decades of practical experience and his vast collection of custom handguns to develop the "Hackathorn Special." This model is geared towards the needs of the serious defensive shooter. It is a unique combination of our time-tested best features like full-size slide and frame, one piece Bullet Proof® magwell, concealment hammer/grip safety, and the versatile medium-length trigger. Each pistol will have Ken’s signature and logo on the slide.

    Since this pistol is well equipped with Ken’s preferred custom options, the only allowable upgrades are ambidextrous safety, choice of front sight and deluxe hand-polish blued finish. (Ivory grips and hex screws are for photo purposes only and are not a standard feature.)

    Renowned firearms trainer and small-arms consultant Ken Hackathorn drew upon decades of practical experience and his vast collection of custom handguns to develop the "Hackathorn Special." The Commander size version of the Hackathorn Special is geared towards the needs of the concealed carrier who prefers this model's shorter 4.25" bushing barrel and full-size frame.The one piece Bullet Proof® magwell, concealment hammer/grip safety, and the versatile medium-length trigger were personally selected by Ken as the best for his needs and are standard on this pistol.

    Since this model is well equipped with Ken’s preferred custom options, the only allowable upgrades are ambidextrous safety, choice of front sight and deluxe hand-polish blued finish. Each pistol will have Ken’s signature engraved on the slide.

  • About Ken Hackathorn

    Ken Hackathorn is a living legend in the field of tactical pistolcraft. He has been an active competitor, shooter and trainer since the early 1970’s, when he has was one of the earliest instructors at Jeff Cooper’s American Pistol Institute. He has since become a leader in the field of defensive firearms training for individuals, law enforcement and military units across the globe.

    Ken has served as a US Army Special Forces Small Arms Instructor, Gunsite Head Instructor and NRA Police Firearms Instructor. He is currently an FBI Certified Firearms Instructor, Certified Deputy Sheriff, an SRT member and Special Response Team trainer. Ken has trained the highest levels of US Military Special Operations forces and Marine special units, and has been a contract small arms trainer to FBI, SWAT and HRT. He has been a firearms and tactical training advisor to special agencies all over the world.

    Ken has written firearms-related material for Guns & Ammo, Combat Handguns, Soldier Of Fortune, American Handgunner and contributed to multiple other firearms journals. He has also written for numerous firearms-related television programs and multiple training videos. As a founding member of both IPSC and the IDPA, Ken has been actively involved in fostering the development of practical handgun shooting sports worldwide for almost 40 years.
