Introducing
the
WILSON TACTICAL CUSTOM ALLIANCE
For over a decade, WILSON TACTICAL
the knife and tool division of WILSON COMBAT has
brought the finest in quality edged tactical tools
to our discriminating clientele. For 2009 we are
raising the bar and will be offering a limited
collection of hand made knives by some of today’s
premier tactical knife makers without the long wait
typically associated with special ordering a custom
edged masterpiece.
These newly designed knives featured
in the new CUSTOM ALLIANCE will be few in number,
and will quickly become a valued centerpiece of your
collection. These offerings will typify the WILSON
standards of extraordinary quality, classic design
and unmatched value.
Broadwell - Ursa Major Subhilt
We are justifiably proud to offer ten pieces of our
newest Custom Alliance knife; the David Broadwell
handcrafted “Ursa Major” Subhilt Fighter.
The Ursa Major, Latin for “Big Bear” pays
homage to one of the greatest knife designs of all
time, the Loveless Big Bear Subhilt fighters-knives
designed for hard battle that integrate a second
guard or “subhilt” to act as a leverage point for
the index finger during or after a committed
thrust. Well made Subhilt fighter’s are always
special knives-only a select few makers can properly
execute the pattern and we have found none that do
it with as much style and perfection as Mr.
Broadwell.
David Broadwell is widely acknowledged as one of the
world’s foremost designers and makers of exquisite
handmade knives and bespoke pens. David’s knives
exhibit bold contours, crisp hand-rubbed satin
finishes and modern, flowing style that pays homage
to past makers with uniqueness that screams “Broadwell”.
David crafts each of his knives in the stock removal
fashion, shaping his sleek, heirloom quality pieces
from blank steel canvases and rough hewn blocks of
wood. His knives have been described by many as
“organic” and “timeless”-we think they are simply
breathtaking and a perfect complement to your Wilson
Combat custom pistol.
The Ursa Major’s 8” blade is precisely double
ground from ¼” thick CPM-154 stainless steel, one of
the finest stainless alloys available for knives.
CPM-154 is manufactured with powdered metallurgy
technology making it cleaner and tougher than many
other steels in its class and remarkably rust
resistant without sacrificing edge-holding ability.
The Ursa Major is precisely double ground and
sharpened-ensuring that this knife has unmatched
piercing performance for a large blade. Even though
the Ursa Major has a hidden, full tang for strength,
it weighs in at a lively eleven ounces. The
sculpted and contoured two-piece handle is crafted
of the finest premium Amboyna burl, a rare and
luxurious Asian hardwood that offers a beautiful and
varied spectrum of colors from yellow to deep red
and excellent toughness suitable for a presentation
combat knife. We have negotiated a quantity of ten
Ursa Major presentation subhilt fighters for our
customers in 2010. All will come with a Maxpedition
padded case, suitable to protect your investment.

David Broadwell - Master Artisan
David Broadwell has been making handmade, custom
knives since 1981 and full-time since 1989. His
background as a machinist and artist gave him the
skills necessary to make knives, but his passion and
love of the craft has elevated him to the highest
levels of the knifemaking world. His knives are
highly collectible and usually only available after
a considerable wait. David has won numerous “Best
Of” awards over his career for his pens and knives,
most recently winning “Best of Show” and “Best
Folder” at the “Gathering” an exclusive annual event
featuring high end knives hosted by the USN
network. David is a lifelong firearms enthusiast
and member of the NRA and we are honored to be
working with him on this and future projects.
